Map Updates for Deer RidgeOn
October 24, 2005, I filed a report with Navteq, the company that
controls the database for all of the online and Garmin mapping sources,
that they were all incorrectly routing to Deer Ridge Resort. This was
my original filing:

- The driving directions given by
your software to Deer Ridge Mountain Resort, 3710 Weber Road,
Gatlinburg, Tennessee 37738 is incorrect...If you type in for
driving directions via Google, Yahoo or Mapquest, they will get you
close...but NOT here....all of them make the same error when you get
close...telling you to turn on Martha McCarter Road.....which is a
road that no longer exists. please see the last map below for the
right yellow brick road. This error is causing our resort guests to
be badly misrouted on Yahoo, MapQuest, Google and Garmin. Please
advise on what has to be done to correct this...and when these
mapping resources will be updated with the correct information.

Here is the detailed resolution from our database tracking system:

- Through Field Verification it was
found that Martha McCarter Road no longer continues through to Weber
Road. The database has been adjusted to reflect this change. Also
the POI Deer Ridge Mountain Resort has been added at 3710 Weber
Road. The NAVTEQ database is now correct.

- NAVTEQ delivers regularly scheduled
map updates to our business partners which include many database
enhancements. The release dates for these products will vary
depending on each individual business partner. If you are interested
in an updated map for your navigation system, please contact your
system provider. In some instances, updates may be available through
NAVTEQ.com. Please reference the following link:

It's unclear how long it will take for these changes to propagate to the
various mapping services...maybe up to six months...but at least this is
a start and will hopefully go a LONG way to solving on the major hassles
for Deer Ridge guests.
